Meal Planning for the Child - Week 1

by Michelle in

I have been starting to look into the concept of baby lead weaning because I am becoming a bit concerned that our daughter will end up being a picky eater like me, so once I know more about that, I will be incorporating that into our daughter's meals.  From the books that I have gathered, most of the meals make multiple servings and should be eaten within a few days, so it might be a little boring.  Since some items might contain foods she has not eaten before, I am going to use the 3 consecutive days of giving the food rule to watch for allergic reactions.  Also, there is the thought process around offering it for multiple days in a row so they get a sense for the taste.  I am willing to try this mindset. Monday:

  • Breakfast - Milk, mini pancakes and applesauce

Meal Planning Monday - Week 15

Today the husband and I begin a new lifestyle eating plan...Paleo.  I am a big carb and dairy fan, so this will be a very interesting 31 days.  With the Paleo 'Diet', there are 3 levels.  The beginning level is called Entry Level and is based on the 85-15 rule, meaning that 15 percent of your meals for a week are non-Paleo meals, so basically a cheat meal, although you are advised to indulge a bit and not inhale all the dairy and carbs that are considered forbidden.  This level is for 2 weeks and I hope to not indulge too much here and there.  So here we go, week 15 of meal planning and week 1 of Paleo: Monday:

    • Breakfast - Egg and Sausage with a smoothie
    • Lunch - Reheated Pork Loin
    • Dinner - Turkey Burger and Sweet Potato Fries

Meal Planning Monday - Week 12

Sunday was our daughter's first birthday and since I was in ultra stress mode for preparing for her party, my plan is to relax and take my time getting our house back to normal!  We do have some leftovers from the party that we will be eating for a few days.  With our little girl no longer on formula and eating regular food, I need to do a better job making sure she is eating enough.  Starting next week, my meal plans will include some of our other meals we will have.  I foresee some time on Pinterest...darn!

Inquiring Mondays - Car Seat Storage

by Michelle in

During the first week of our daughter's life, it seemed like everyday we were leaving the house for some sort of appointment.  At first, we started to leave the car seat in her room.  That quickly became a nuisance as we were constantly moving it around in her room.  Since my purse along with the husband's keys and wallet get placed on the table in our entryway, I figured that's where the car seat and diaper bag should go as well.  This has worked great for us since this is the area we are in when preparing to leave the house.  Here's a nice little photo showing the car seat under the table in our entry way:

Now that she is older and bigger, we are starting to just leave the car seat attached to the base in the car and carry her.  The hot summer days are upon us and my concern will be having to put her into a hot car seat.  Should I get a white towel or blanket to drape over the car seat to reflect the heat?

Where do you store your car seat when it's not in the car and when did you start leaving it attached to the base in the car?  If you leave your car seat in the car during the summer months, how do you keep it from getting so hot when you have to put your little one in?
